THE PINK NIGHT 6 JULY 2012
THE PINK SIDE OF THE MOON
Now in its seventh edition, the Romagna Riviera opens the summer season by dedicating its flagship event to the moon, or more precisely to the ‘pink’ side of the moon.’ The Pink side of the moon’ is the official claim. The reference to the famous Pink Floyd album reinforces the musical connotation of the event. Moreover, the ‘pink side of the moon’ suggests a curious paradox: it is the moon that is influenced by La Notte Rosa and not vice versa. Once again, emphasis is placed on the potential of the event and of the Romagna Riviera. The quotation suggests an international breath.
The 2012 image is chosen through a call for young creatives. From over 70 proposals received from all over Italy, the work of a Rimini graphic designer, Micol Montanari, class of ‘88, was selected, based on a re-elaboration of a famous cover of the weekly magazine Epoca from the late 1960s dedicated to the moon landing. An image of strong impact, immediately recognisable, evocative and declined in an original and ironic way ad hoc for La Notte Rosa.
Over the weekend, 2 million people took part in the Pink Night. The New Year's Eve of the Italian summer saw a full house in accommodation facilities and restaurants, pizzerias, bars, pubs and theme parks that worked non-stop for a total turnover estimated at over 200 million euro. Enthusiastic about this unique festival were also 17 tour operators and 31 journalists from 8 European countries (Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, United Kingdom, Russia, Switzerland) and 15 bloggers from the Blogville Emilia-Romagna project, implemented by Apt Servizi, on the hunt for images and emotions to share online.
Colour, warmth, fun and lots of music. Pink also many food and wine ‘specialities’: from pink piadine (flat bread) to the creation of a new ice cream flavour, RiminOSA, which the artisan ice cream makers of the Riviera have created using a local excellence, the IGP Nectarine peaches of Romagna.
